Pioneer Memorial Park

The downtown park beside the library on the site of Mountain View’s first cemetery.

The cemetery between Mercy and Church Streets, on land donated by the Castro family, was where the early pioneers were buried. In 1966, at the urging of the Mountain View Historical Association, it was saved from a plan to run a street through it and became Pioneer Memorial Park.

Its rock garden was a gift from the sister city of Iwata, Japan, to mark the completion of City Hall.
